A dynamic force both onstage and behind the scenes, Yaminah brings bold vision and cultural depth to every project she leads. Trained at The Alvin Ailey School,
Lula Washington, The Edge Dance Center, and other prestigious institutions, she blends technical mastery with the soulful energy of Afro-diasporic traditions. From West African, Dancehall, and Hip Hop to Jazz, Burlesque, and Contemporary, she creates dynamic works that resonate worldwide. Her work has been featured by MTV, BET, Disney, and the Tribeca Film Festival, and she’s performed and worked with artists like Shakira, Black Coffee,
Sean Paul, Pharrell and more.
As the founder of Art Of Legohn, Yaminah uses performance, education, and production to celebrate Black Diaspora culture through a modern lens. She produces immersive shows like Red Light Special: A Night of Urban Burlesque® and community-centered events such as Dancehall Battle NYC®. With a background in Speech Communications and Dance from San Francisco State University, she blends movement, message, and motivation in a signature style that fuels her workshops, panels, and public speaking engagements worldwide.
